Graduate Visa Pathways: Your Options After Studies

15 November 2024By Guidance Education Team

Completing your studies in Australia opens up several visa pathways that allow you to gain work experience and potentially transition to permanent residency.

Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

The Temporary Graduate visa allows international graduates to work, study, and live in Australia temporarily after completing their studies. There are two streams: the Graduate Work stream and the Post-Study Work stream.

Pathways to Permanent Residency

Many graduates use their post-study work period to gain Australian work experience, improve their English, and accumulate points for skilled migration visas such as subclass 189, 190, or 491.
